Public Hearing Scheduled - Time to be determined
Developer making progress with county

Ashton Meeting Place approval process:

  • April 12th is the scheduled date for the public hearing for approval of the site plan, preliminary plan and for Park and Planning’s recommendation on the special exception.  (All dates are subject to change by Park and Planning, the schedule has already “slipped” several times due to delays in their internal process).

  • This is the meeting we have all been waiting for, where your attendance showing support is critical, necessary, greatly appreciated, and extremely helpful.  The time the project will be presented to the Planning Board will be established April 6th (anticipated to be early afternoon); we will send another email when the time is certain.

  • The address of the meeting is:

MNCPPC

8787 Georgia Avenue

Silver Spring, MD 20910

  • You will be given the opportunity to speak in front of the Planning Board  to state your opinion.  Anyone who is interested in speaking is required to sign up.  Sign up in advance to speak by calling 301-495-4600 or 301-495-4605, or you can sign up upon arrival at Park and Planning.

  • If you are unable to attend an email / letter with your opinion would also be an extremely helpful substitution.  Please forward email / letter to the following chairperson:

Royce Hanson, Chairman

Montgomery County Planning Board

8787 Georgia Avenue

Silver Spring, MD 20910

Email – mcp-chairman@mncppc-mc.org

  • At this time, the two biggest issues we are confronting appear to be encroachment into the wetlands and wetlands buffer (we are proposing a revised driveway location to avoid the wetlands), and the Park and Planning staff preference to locate storefronts directly onto New Hampshire Avenue.  (The State Highway Administration will not permit on-street parking on New Hampshire Avenue.)

Updates will be made as available, including, but not limited to, current plans, environmental information and renderings.

Thank you for your support!
