Ashton, MD – (January 22, 2007) Nichols Development announced today the filing of a revised preliminary plan, site plan, and special exception plan with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), a milestone in the development of Ashton Meeting Place. Ashton Meeting Place is a retail, residential and office community located at the intersection of Route 108 and New Hampshire Avenue in Montgomery County. A public hearing on the site plan and the preliminary plan is scheduled for March 15, 2007.
A notable change in the plan is the addition of active, on street parking along the eastern portion of Route 108, allowing easy access to on-street retailers. Additionally, the design of Ashton Meeting Place at the southeast corner of Route 108 will dovetail with the proposed design elements for Derrick’s Corner on the northeast corner of Route 108, resulting in a cohesive design theme for the Ashton village district.
The revised plan includes more than a quarter of an acre of green space at the intersection of Route 108 and New Hampshire Avenue, enhancing the vision of an outdoor space for community gatherings and celebrations. Indoor community meeting space continues to be part of the proposed development plan.
